PaintCare utilizes its communications team to develop props for photography and commercials for use in all advertising materials. Because of this and the fact that so many paint manufacturers participate in the PaintCare program, PaintCare needed to develop a generic branding for prop paint cans in advertising in order to show no favoritism toward any manufacturer. PaintCare purchases blank, empty paint cans/household product packaging to use as props, and I develop labels based on measurements taken of the empty packaging.
After the design and printing process, I would hand-cut each label and apply them to the cans. Some cans get drips that match what the contents would be, making the cans look used and less like a perfect, brand new can of paint from the store.

The cans above were developed for use at PaintCare's parent association's bi-annual conference. They were used in PaintCare's booth to help educate the public about paint recycling and what products are accepted by the program for recycling. Some have also been featured in photography for advertising or on PaintCare's website.

The designs of the cans above were inspired by the 40s/50s, 70s, 80s, and today for use in PaintCare's most recent commercial "Paint Over the Decades". Before designing, I conducted research on paint manufacturers and design styles in each decade to find labels and artwork that could inspire my designs.

I also developed a set of  label designs to represent products that are not accepted in PaintCare's recycling program. These products were used in PaintCare's 2016 booth at it's parent association's bi-annual conference along with a few of those in the first photo to help educate the public about the recycling program and what products it accepts and doesn't accept for recycling.
